Firewall are no longer needed today That is a pretty bold statement. Think about it. Do you hear about Hackers on the nightly news programs? Are there any more arrest? Between the corporate scandals, child abductions and child pornography; hackers have pretty much disappeared. Wrong.

Do you think your computers at home are safe? I believe there is a certain level of comfort that builds up over time and we as users become complacent and we start to think that we are free from being subjected to the bad stuff in this world. Do not think like that. With Security and Firewall you need to stay ahead of the bad people.

When you start noticing crime going up in certain parts of the city do you start visiting that area more often? I hope not. Do you think more people will make the difference? That might help in the short term but realistically it takes Security also known as Police to reduce that security threat.

So apply that to your computer. If you want reduce or stop negative things from happening to your computer then your Security Applications are going to have to change. Period.

Unfortunately, a good security program is going to cost a few bucks. Here are some companies to research; ZoneAlarm, Norton, McAfee, Kerio and BlackIce. I do have my personal favorite but that is neither here or now to discuss my preferences.

What is important is that you address the Security issue if you want a higher level of assurance that you are protected.
